California's Mail-Order Bride Protections Bill by Assemblywoman Sally Lieber

March 2005

To address an additional form of abuse towards women, Assemblywoman Sally Lieber has authored Assembly Bill 634. AB 634 would protect women entering California as prospective spouses from deception, violence and abuse. It would require international marriage brokers (IMB) to provide foreign recruits with the criminal and marital history of American clients seeking a foreign fiancée.

This bill will be heard by the Assembly Judiciary Committee on 5 April 2005.
