RAT Productions is announcing an open call for submissions of their groundbreaking series, CAUSEWAY.
CAUSEWAY is a project intended to raise awareness of important social issues through collaborations with artists.
This coming 2005–2006 season, CAUSEWAY will focus on the subject of human slavery on a global and local scale. From cocoa plantations of the Ivory Coast, the wine trade of Africa, the carpet factories of India, the brothels in Thailand and trafficking in our own cities in America, the slave-trade is alive and flourishing. By curating a series that brings together the talent and vision of artists working in a variety of genres— from theatre and film, to music and dance— BRAT PRODUCTIONS hopes to raise awareness about this vast and terrible global issue.
Brat Productions will provide financial support and production assistance to artists selected as part of the CAUSEWAY series at Mum Puppet theatre this January.
Each submission must include an informed angle on slavery, and a commitment to further research. Additionally, it is suggested that you attend one of the 2 information sessions below, during which Brat's Founding Artistic Director, Madi Distefano will present a short overview of Causeway, and guidelines for submitting work for the production. Submission requirements are also available online at www.bratproductions.org/causeway
