Senior Officials' Meeting of the Bali Ministerial Conference on People Smuggling and Human Trafficking (Bali Process) was held in Brisbane, Australia on 7-8 June 2004. Co-chairs Australia and Indonesia led a constructive discussion among Bali Process members, observers, and international organizations regarding the future direction of the Bali Process. The co-chairs' report to Ministers reflects a consensus that the Bali Process was successful in promoting awareness of human trafficking within the governments of the participating states and promoting the development of people smuggling and human trafficking legislation. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Australia and Indonesia, the co-chairs, will review and circulate the report from the Senior Officials' Meeting before making a decision on the future of the Bali Process.
