Thai officials on Monday signed an agreement to cooperate with UNICEF and Plan Thailand to fight human trafficking in the country's eastern provinces bordering Cambodia. 1
Wanlop Phloytabtim, permanent-secretary for Social Development and Human Security, led provincial officials from Chonburi, Rayong, Chantaburi, Trat, Sa Kaew, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao and Nakhon Nayok in inking the agreement, which will lead to a more coordinated and systematic capacity to combat the trafficking of women and children in the eastern provinces bordering Cambodia. He said the agreement also strengthens Thai-Cambodian relations in fighting the cross-border human trade. Thailand has added the fight against human trafficking to its national agenda and is prepared to allocate Bt500 million to the task to be carried out by the ministry and other government agencies.
