Equal Access is very pleased to announce the launch of its newest country initiative in Cambodia. On 30 March 2006, they gathered with fellow NGO workers, international agencies and government ministries to kick off the project by playing the first episode of “The Future Is in Your Hands,” our anti- trafficking in persons flagship program.
They were joined by the Minister of Women's Affairs and the Secretary of State from the Ministry of Information, who both made very supportive remarks about Equal Access and our potential to help underserved communities in Cambodia.
Through the support of USAID, The Asia Foundation, East West Management Institute and World Education, Equal Access is distributing 300 satellite receivers to remote and underserved communities in Cambodia, the first audience to listen to the new Cambodian satellite service, “Our Community Voice.” In keeping with our innovative methodology, community members receive training on facilitating discussion groups and community mobilization around the radio programs. To implement these diverse activities, EA hired a team of local Cambodian staff. Read more about our Cambodia project. They are developing a large-scale Equal Access initiative in Cambodia that reaches thousands - if not millions - of people with critically needed information across a wide spectrum of issues.
