Burma Enacts Anti Trafficking in Persons Law

September 13, 2005

Burma has banned the practice of trafficking and made it punishable by life in prison. The law has reportedly been in the works all year and was enacted on Tuesday, 13 September 2005, nearly three months after the United States named Burma with North Korea and Cambodia as Asia's worst offenders for human trafficking.
