Project Advisor Position Opening: UNIAP Cambodia
June 2005
The UN-Inter Agency Project on Human Trafficking in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (UNIAP) Cambodia office invites applications for the position of Project Adviser to provide technical and managerial support to the project. (S)he will work under the direct supervision for the National Project Coordinator (NPC).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist the project in drafting reports, surveys, and research documents
- Assist the project in convening groups of key actors in specific areas to better cooperate in developing and implementing analysis, strategies and advocacy.
- Provide substantive support in planning and implementing national level.
- Support mapping of anti-trafficking projects and activities in Cambodia.
- Support the collection of trafficking-related materials in English, and work to build a system for continuous information collection ad organization.
- Assist in preparing project related materials, outreach to the public through appropriate print and electronic media. Assist the project in organizing information and discussions on the project's list-serve on human trafficking.
- Support to review and recommend proposals for targeted interventions and ensuring that the funding process is conducted in an open, transparent manner.
- Assist the project in maintaining regular contact with agencies involved in anti-human trafficking, especially the UN agencies.
- Assist in the organization of the quarterly Donor and Stakeholder meeting.
- Support implementation of sub-regional plan at a country level, especially work in the COMMIT Sub-regional Plan of Action.
Qualifications
- Strong inter-personal communication skills
- Proven capacity to implement programmes and activities
- Excellent team working skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written English skills, with an ability to write quickly and clearly
- Strong report writing skills
- Familiarity with Window-based computer application
- Degree, at post-graduate level, in a relevant social science discipline, including law
- Working experience (with minimum of three years) in a government, NGO, or UN agency dealing with one or more of the following issues: trafficking, social research, women's and children's issues, community development, human rights, migration or governance
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Experience in resource mobilizations
