Ongoing Activities of UNIAP-Cambodia

1) BUILDING THE KNOWLEDGE BASE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN CAMBODIA

Resource Library - developing the collation of books and other documents about human trafficking in the Cambodian Development Research Institute (CDRI)

Translating Documents - translating key documents on human trafficking into Khmer and disseminating these documents.

Database of Trafficking Projects - creating an up-to-date, user-friendly database for information on human trafficking organizations and projects in Cambodia.

Regional Website and Newsletter - providing contemporary Cambodia-specific human trafficking information to the UNIAP regional website and quarterly regional 'Step-by-Step' newsletter.

Khmer Newsletter - creating a UNIAP-C 'Platform for Action' Newsletter in Khmer on human trafficking.

Provincial Visits and Attending Meetings - participating actively in meetings and maintaining current and broad knowledge of human trafficking projects and the complexity of the problem.

Radio Program - coordinating monthly interactive radio sessions on human trafficking with the Cambodian Women's Media Centre and various experts in the field of human trafficking.

Information Email List Serve - regularly disseminating the latest information on human trafficking in Cambodia to hundreds of UNIAP-C list serve members.

2) IDENTIFYING AND SUPPORTING ACTIONS ON HIGH PRIORITY ISSUES ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Donor-UN Coordination Meetings - organizing and coordinating quarterly meetings of key donors and UN agencies funding human trafficking activities in Cambodia.

Stakeholder Meetings - organizing and coordinating quarterly meetings of key stakeholders working against human trafficking in Cambodia.

COMMIT Process - facilitating the Coordinated Mekong Ministerial Initiative Against Trafficking in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (COMMIT) process and National Task Force Meetings towards the signing and implementation of the regional and sub-regional Plans of Action.

3) SUPPORTING INTERVENTIONS THAT RESPOND TO GAPS IN THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN CAMBODIA

Special Project Support - identifying innovative 'special projects' for funding support. UNIAP-C currently supports a project in Koh Kong administered by LSCW.

Research Methodology Training - providing training on research methodology for human trafficking research.

4) PROVIDING ADVOCACY SUPPORT TO MINISTRIES AND PARTNERS

Anti-trafficking legislation - mainstreaming human rights issues into the anti human trafficking legislation and lobbying the National Assembly to pass the legislation.

Anti-trafficking advocacy - bringing emerging issues of human trafficking to the attention of donors and government officials.
