ECPAT-Cambodia has announced the launch of its joint database on rape and trafficking statistics. The project is intended to provide all relevant institutions, agencies and NGOs with valid and accurate data on rape and trafficking from 2003-2004 and will also facilitate LNGOs in utilising and channeling their resources in an efficient and effective way.
The project aims to collate data held by relevant NGOs, agencies and institutions on rape and trafficking, and produce a statistical analysis report (factoring in context and variable to ensure maximum validity and accuracy) in twelve months time. The database itself will not be accessible externally due to confidentiality reasons, but comprehensive reports will be disseminated and requests for further information can be sent to ECPAT.
ECPAT requests support and collaboration in this effort, particularly through providing case data (all issues of confidentiality will be addressed) or reports, as it believe that a serious effort to consolidate data on recorded cases of rape and trafficking will provide a solid base from which NGOs, agencies and government ministries can work. ECPAT expresses its highest appreciation for the support and close collaboration received so far.
