The International Organization for Migration Office in Phnom Penh launched an information campaign on October 2, 2002 to combat trafficking in women and children. The goal of the US$839,000 USAID funded campaign is to increase the protection of women and children by raising awareness, developing and promoting community action to prevent trafficking, and creating a counter trafficking database. The three year campaign will be implemented in 18 provinces and municipalities and will improve the capacity of the Ministry of Women and Veterans' Affairs to carry out information campaigns about trafficking in women and children and allow the ministry to collect, analyze, and use the information on trafficking for future advocacy campaigns or policy development.
