This report covers the activities of December 12, 2006 campaign. The information stated in this report is made through the report submitted by coordinator of each implemented partners together with the monitoring of focal point.
Campaign against Child Trafficking is conducted every year on December 12 by the Asia ACTs’s members in seven countries in South East Asia to commemorate the adoption on the UN Protocol to Prevent, Punish, Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, supplementing to the UN Convention against Transitional Organized Crime in Palermo, Italy in December 12, 2000. Since 2003, Asia ACTs which its partners in seven countries in South East Asia like: Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Burma have been conducting the campaign against child trafficking every year at the same time and the same theme in order to lobby the government of each country to recognize December 12 as a national day against child trafficking. For Cambodia, Campaign December 12 Against Child Trafficking this year was conducted in twelve different places by twelve NGO partners of Cambodia ACTs and ECPATCambodia.
This was a special year that more and more NGOs are involving in the campaign against child trafficking to raise the public awareness on trafficking issues and to raise stronger voice to lobby the government to recognize this special day as a National Day Against Child Trafficking in Cambodia.
