Activities

The Social Welfare Department is responsible for coordinating Hong Kong's social services, which include services to victims of trafficking. If a victim of trafficking is referred to the Social Welfare Department (SWD) for arrangement of temporary accommodation, the SWD will refer the victim to a shelter which is run or subvented by the SWD.

Objectives of services provided by SWD:

To promote victims' rights
To safeguard the well-being of the victims
To provide support and assistance to individual victims and their families so as to help them overcome the trauma brought about by child abuse, spouse battering and sexual violence
To educate the public on the prevention and proper handling of child abuse, spouse battering and sexual violence incidents
