Activities

Redd Barna focuses on the improvement of five areas in order to further develop human rights within Cambodia. First, through promoting, understanding and acceptance of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) business owners within Cambodia will be able to enforce child-related laws in compliance with CRC principles. Basic education through early childhood development (ECD), Primary Education, and non-formal (or technical) training will prepare children with life skills needed to obtain employment. Next, by providing Street and Working Children with education, legal assistance, community/family reintegration, as well as a safe place will assist children with becoming self-reliant. Redd Barna Combats Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Children by assisting abused children with legal assistance as well as police officers with training. Finally, providing assistance to children with disabilities, Redd Barna will assist those children with special needs to obtain the same education as other children.

Sexual Exploitation (Child at Risk and Abused/Exploited Children) Program Goals:

  • Combat trafficking in communities
  • Rescue, recover, rehabilitate and reunite abused/exploited children
  • Call on legal agencies to assist child victims
  • Develop and train police on investigating and rescuing trafficking victims
  • Network in several channels--Cambodia National Project Community against Trafficking in Women and Children in the Mekong Sub-Region
  • International Agencies Working Group on Trafficking in Women and Children
