Legal Aid of Cambodia (LAC) is a non-profit, non-governmental Khmer-administered association of lawyers dedicated to serving the legal needs of Cambodia's poor in all types of civil and criminal matters. LAC operates from its Phnom Penh headquarters and 8 provincial offices. Founded in December 1995, LAC's mission is to assist in the construction of a more civil society and a more just legal system based upon respect for human rights, equal justice and the rule of law, and to ensure that high-quality legal services are made available to the most vulnerable segments of Cambodian society.
LAC investigates civil and criminal cases, amongst which are labor cases, land right cases, and juvenile cases. LAC also investigates violations of human trafficking, and ensures proper adherence to Cambodian Law in filing cases against traffickers.
LAC offers free legal assistance and free legal representation to the poor in both civil and criminal matters.
