DASI HAMKKE Center is commissioned by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and supervised by the United Voice (Han Sori). It functions as a Non Government Organization (NGO) and Government (GO) collaboration agency that helps victims/survivors of sex trafficking and women in prostitution to come out of the sex trade and assist them to be sustainable, self-supported and self-empowered. ‘Dasi’ means ‘again’, an expression for restarting new life. ‘Hamkke’ means ‘together’ that all of us need to assist and support them together in helping the victims/survivors to establish new lives.
HANSORI (UNITED VOICE)
HanSori supervises Dasi Hamkke Center. Hansori is the leading Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working against sex trafficking and prostitution starting from 1986. It is a coalition made up of 20 related organizations.
Activities:
Counseling
All victims/survivors are offered 100% confidential counseling service through visit, phone, e-mail and website. They also offer counseling on self-support programs after coming out of the sex trade.
Emergency Rescue, Protection Care
In case of any emergency victims/survivors can contact Dasi Hamkke for rescue and protection.
Linking ‘Suim-Teo’ Center
‘Suim-Teo’ is a shelter accommodation where victims/survivors can get all sorts of vocational training, education and related programs.
Legal Support They offer counseling and legal support to victims/survivors of sex trafficking and identify the damages by pimps, owners, recruiters, brokers and sex buyers. In all of police/prosecutor’s investigation the counselor accompany them to monitor that there are no human rights violations in these law enforcement agencies.
Medical Support
They offer counseling on health problems and link the victims/survivors to hospital for proper medical treatment. They also offer psychological counseling and therapies to heal the wounds of the soul.
Self- Support Program
Linking with social welfare service, they offer information on education program and job recruitment. Through different levels of self-support programs they help the victims/survivors to be more sustainable, self-supported and empowered.
Research & Publication
Through research and publication they try to raise awareness on the issues of prostitution and sex trafficking. They have published series of case studies book and carried out research on the reduction of sex industry in Korea. They also published an English book titled "Out of the Trap, Hope One Step; Case studies of Prostitution and Sex Trafficking in Korea."
International Networking
Sex trafficking is already a global problem and Korean women are also trafficked to other countries. Hence they make efforts to solve these issues through international networking and cooperation.
