Activities

Activities in the United States

The Salvation Army (TSA) is responsible for two Department of Justice (DOJ) funded anti-trafficking programs. The first, awarded in 2003, has the purpose of building TSA's capacity to provide services to human trafficking around the nation. The second program, awarded 2004, evolved directly from the first and involves direct services to trafficking victims in the Western U.S. More precisely, TSA will assume the lead role in coordinating services to trafficking victims identified in: Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, El Paso and parts of California. Additionally, comprehensive service programs are being developed in 4 cities: Las Vegas, Denver, El Paso and Anchorage.

The Salvation Army coordinates the Initiative Against Sexual Trafficking (IAST), which raises public awareness and advocates for national and international policy on the issue.

International Activities:

The international leadership of The Salvation Army has formally declared its commitment to combat human trafficking, and is coordinating its global response at its International Headquarters (IHQ) in London, England. Thus far, TSA has anti-trafficking programs in Bangladesh, Tanzania, and soon in China, Ecuador and Indonesia.
