Activities

GlobalRights.org is formerly International Human Rights Law Group. Global Rights partners with organizations and governments to ensure that all responses to the trafficking of people into forced labor, slavery and servitude are based upon internationally-recognized human rights standards.

Since 1998, Global Rights has partnered with organizations and governments to ensure that all responses to the trafficking of people into forced labor, slavery and servitude are based upon internationally-recognized human rights standards. Global Rights is also a founder and coordinator of the Freedom Network (USA) and is helping to build regional networks of activists and lawyers based in Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico, and West Africa. 1

The Mission of the Freedom Network (USA) is to ensure that trafficked persons are treated as victims and not criminals; that they are able to have full access to justice, including the right to full compensation and restitution from the traffickers; and that they are provided with access to linguistically-appropriate and culturally-sensitive, victim-centered social, mental health, medical, legal, educational, vocational and other services.

The Freedom Network seeks to increase public awareness of the crime of trafficking through education, research, training and community outreach and organizing for the purpose of preventing trafficking and supporting the rights of trafficked persons. The Network engages in advocacy at the local, national and international levels on behalf of trafficked persons and for full prosecution of all traffickers, including corporations and their subcontractors. They develop local and national networks in the United States and to link with international networks in order to carry out these above activities. 2
