Activities
Tahirih Justice Center provides direct legal services, as well as comprehensive social services referrals, to trafficking victims. Tahirih Justice Center has also advocated for legislation and regulations to protect and assist trafficking victims, such as the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) and the Women Immigrants Safe Harbor Act (WISH).
In a further effort to prevent the exploitation and abuse of vulnerable immigrant women, Tahirih Justice Center helped draft federal legislation to help protect so-called "mail-order brides" ("The International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2003," S.1455/HR 2949) and is working with a broad coalition nationwide to ensure its passage.
