Activities

The New Jersey Statewide Anti-Trafficking Initiative is supported by grant from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, Administration for Children & Families.

Main objectives of the initiative are:

Increase knowledge and understanding of the scope of trafficking in New Jersey, the benefits available to victims, how to identify and respond to the special psychological, social, legal and medical needs of trafficked persons
Identify gaps in services, promote communication among key stakeholders, coordination of response and make recommendations for change to promote more effective response to victims' needs
Develop a statewide system for coordination and communication among key partners
Develop a statewide resource list of law enforcement, NGO's, social service agencies and organizations able to assist victims (New Jersey Resources for Trafficked Persons)
Coordinate the New Jersey Anti-Trafficking Coalition

This Initiative builds on the Institute's commitment to recognizing the dignity and worth of all people. Through this project, IINJ, its collaborators, and other stakeholders will strengthen their efforts to respond to the needs of foreign-born women, children, and men made vulnerable by civil conflict, dire economic circumstances, natural disasters or their own desire for a better life who have been trafficked and exploited.
