Activities

The Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs' Association (MWEA) was established February 2, 1995. It is registered under the Ministry of Home Affairs as a non-government, non-profit, non-political and non-religious association.

The objectives of MWEA are to:

• Unite and bring into focus and world attention the role and capabilities of Burmese women as entrepreneur business women
• Facilitate communications and discussions and promote friendship and co-operative efforts among women entrepreneurs
• Promote and encourage modern methods of business management among Burmese women entrepreneurs
• Participate in and promote activities to raise the social economic life of Burmese women 
• Encourage environment-friendly/culturally sensitive businesses
• Promote and encourage relationships with national and international women's associations, professionals, business, and academia

The MWEA provides small loans to women so that they will not easily be lured by traffickers with false promises of getting money in other countries.

The opening ceremony of the Tenth Global Conference of Women Entrepreneurs jointly organized by the International Federation of Women Entrepreneurs and Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs' Association was held in Yangon on 26 September 2003.
