Third World Movement addresses the issue of exploitation and responds to the needs of sexually exploited people. It was the first to take up the issue of sex tourism nationally and internationally. It spearheaded the protest against Japanese sex tours on Human Rights Day, December 10, 1980, its foundation date.
In 1981, in response to the "sexploitation" of women, the TW-MAE-W initiated synchronized demonstrations in the Southeast Asian capitals. The TW-MAE-W has since addressed a host of other issues which include marriage bureaus, migrant workers, beauty contests, women workers, ethnic rights, child prostitution and the religious oppression of women.
Third World Movement operates drop-in centers and shelters for women and child survivors of sexual exploitation.
Third Wold Movement recently held an Anti-Human Trafficking workshop in July 2007.
