The NCRFW acts as the coordinating office on issues of trafficking. It is under the Office of the President and is charged with monitoring and assessing the implementation of laws and policies on women. It was involved in bringing about the passage of the Anti-Trafficking Act of May 2003. It also oversees the implementation of the CEDAW convention in the Philippines. It is particularly interested in promoting the economic empowerment of women, advancing and protecting women’s human rights, and promoting a gender responsive government.
The NCRFW institutes the gender responsiveness of national development plan and coordinates the preparation, assessment and updating of the National Plan for Women, ensures its implementation and monitors the performance of government agencies in the implementation of the Plan.
