Saewoomtuh is primarily concerned with improving the human rights of female prostitutes and their children who work in towns adjacent to American military bases, forming a community for female prostitutes and their children to live in safety and equality, reducing the number of criminals involved in promoting prostitution, eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against women. Saewoomtuh is also concerned with the fact that if Korean police chiefs are being bribed with sex, the human rights of prostitutes are not being protected.
It also provides education and counseling for women entertainers and acts as a shelter for victims of prostitution.
Objectives:
1. Preservation of human dignity and self-determination.
2. Respect for the human rights for Kijich'on(military town) prostitutes.
3. Respect for the human rights of children of Kijich'on(military town) women and Amerasian children.
4. To form a community where Kijich'on(military town) prostitutes and their children can live safely, freely and equally.
5. To eradicate militarism, war and prostitution.
6. To eliminate all kinds of discrimination (due to gender, body, race, economic, power, culture, age, and religion).
Saewoomtuh hosted the International Symposium to Counter Prostitution and Human Trafficking, 11 October 2001, in South Korea. The symposium participants pointed out that women should use international networks to make the Korean government comply with the conventions of the UN and other human rights organizations.
