The Ministry of Justice is engaged in the enforcement of laws related to human trafficking, enactment and revision of laws related to human trafficking.
The Ministry of Justice co-hosted with the Ministry of Gender Equality the Expert Group Meeting on Prevention of International Trafficking & Promotion of Public Awareness Campaign with cooperation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The Expert Group Meeting consisted of two parts. One brought in a selected number of international experts, policy makers and activists from different countries in order to discuss key issues and best practices in the prevention of trafficking. The other formed part of the Ad-Hoc Expert Group I of the Bali Process and paid particular attention to the topic of public awareness campaigns. The Republic of Korea has been designated as a coordinator of the topic of public awareness campaigns within the Bali Process.

The Ministry of Justice conducted 792 investigations, compared with 450 in 2002. The investigations resulted in 119 indictments and 92 felony convictions.1
Annually, the Ministry of Justice Training Institute conducts ten classes on various aspects of detecting and handling trafficking cases.2
For foreign trafficking victims, the Ministry of Justice granted G-1 visas or suspensions of departure, which prevented victims from being deported from South Korea and encouraged them to cooperate with efforts to prosecute their traffickers.3
