Activities

IOM Mission in Japan assists with the voluntary return of trafficking victims to their home countries in close collaboration with relevant government agencies, NGOs and Embassies. It has supported several studies on the trafficking of Asian women to Japan. This information has been shared amongst governmental agencies, international organizations, and Embassies, and is available upon request.

In support of the country’s action plan to combat trafficking, IOM provides return and reintegration assistance to victims of trafficking. Activities include interviewing victims to confirm their eligibility for voluntary return assistance, evaluate their willingness to return home, make the necessary travel arrangements and ensure that reception assistance is provided once they arrive home.

IOM Japan manages the "Return and Reintegration Assistance to Trafficked Victims in Japan (RATVJ) Project".
