On 22 June 22 2005, a Congressional hearing "Combating Trafficking in Persons: An International Perspective" was held before the House Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology. The hearing primarily included testimony from NGO representatives offering insight on the economic impact of the international human trafficking industry with a special focus on the sexual exploitation of women and children.
