La Strada BiH was invited to a digital video link conference on prevention of trafficking in persons, on the request from the Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy-Sarajevo. The conference was conducted by Mr. Mohamed Y. Mattar, Adjunct Professor of Law and Executive Director of the Protection Project at the John Hopkins School of Advanced Studies. The topics discussed were related to importance of public awareness campaign, development of successful local and regional strategies to fight trafficking in persons, importance of regional cooperation and how to realize it, problem of involvement of local authorities, e.g. police, in human trafficking and how to prevent it, cooperation of NGOs and the government sector. As a result of this, participating NGOs were asked to send proposals of their candidates for the 14-week scholarship in USA, who will be trained for preparation of two conferences on THB.
