Sharon is a forensic Pediatrician and an adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina. She is an expert witness in Developmental Pediatrics and provides training for law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, and the United States Military.

Assistant United States Attorney’s MacDonald and Wilton will teach you what it takes to prosecute a trafficking case, what statutes can be used against suspects, and what it takes to get your case prosecuted successfully. Erica will focus on interstate child prostitution while Chris will cover gangs involved in sex trafficking. Numerous recent case examples will be used to stress the critical points. Both are experienced prosecutors who are currently prosecuting cases in the Minnesota US Attorney's Office.
Juvenile Prostitution: The Hidden Truth

Some techniques for preparing witnesses for trial work well, but juvenile victims are a sub-culture unto themselves. Learn why some are cooperative victims and why some are not. Hear a social psychological analysis of strategies used by pimps to manipulate women and young girls to participate in prostitution. Learn how to empower the victim, and prepare her and the jury on what they are about to go through. Lois is a nationally recognized expert and has testified in numerous federal and state prosecutions. Her published study, “The Pimp and His Game†has been relied on by vice officers, district attorneys and U.S. Attorneys nationwide as a guide for the treatment of child prostitutes, jury education, and the prosecution of vicious pimps. Lois has earned both a PhD and a Jurist Doctorate Degree. She has been featured on 60 Minutes, and her life and work has been portrayed in a CBS Movie of the Week entitled “Children of the Night.â€

This presentation will take a close look at the Innocence Lost project and the need for cooperation between federal and state prosecutors to combat human traffickers. Learn new prosecution strategies and a frank discussion on whether or not to prosecute adult prostitutes who work for the targeted group. Sherri is the current program manager for the Innocence Lost project and assists in the prosecuting of cases nationwide involving the exploitation of children and obscenity offenses. Sherri was a First Assistant District Attorney in Pennsylvania before joining the Department of Justice.
Developing and Organizing a Major Conspiracy Prosecution

Learn how Joe turned an ordinary traffic stop into the federal prosecution of the “Evans Family†national prostitution ring. This was the largest juvenile prostitution ring ever prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice. Learn how the use of link analysis, chronologies, analytical charting, medical records, and the federal grand jury system proved to be invaluable tools for the US Attorney's Office. Joe's experience includes 10 years assigned to IRS and DEA task forces. He is also a supervisor with the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad. In 2000, Joe received the NAPO "TOP COP" Award and the United States Attorney General's Award for his work on the Evans case.
Working With Victims of Sexual Exploitation

This course will assist participants in understanding the impact of sexual exploitation on children. You will also learn how to ensure that prosecutions of pimps, traffickers and “johns†are victim centered. Ms. Lloyd will assist participants in recognizing harmful stereotypes, correcting misconceptions about “types†of victims, and identifying services for victims. Rachel received the 2006 Reebok International Human Rights Award and has been featured in the Washington Post, MSNBC, and ABC News.
