Evening Panel Program:
Human Trafficking and State Responsibility: Perspectives on the Domestic and International Response
The panel will be discussing how U.S. and international state actors and agencies have responded or not responded to the global problem of human trafficking, and the role that state responsibility plays in combating trafficking. Topics will include the involvement of U.N. peacekeepers and agency contractors in trafficking, the effect that the U.S. sanctions regime and the prostitution "gag rule" have had on assisting trafficked persons, NATO and U.S. Department of Defense policies towards trafficking, and the intersection of U.S. labor migration policies, human rights, and human trafficking.
