Vital Voices Global Partnership and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are sponsoring a human trafficking panel discussion and ceremony appointing Ms. Julia Ormond as the U.N. Goodwill Ambassador on Anti-Trafficking in observation of December 2nd as the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.

The ceremony and panel discussion will be hosted and moderated by Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Executive Director of UNODC. The Hon. Nancy Kassebaum Baker, former U.S. Senator, member of British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Commission on Africa, and Vital Voices Honorary Co-Chair, will give a keynote speech. Other panelists include Ms. Melanne Verveer, the Chair of the Board of Vital Voices; human rights activist Ms. Bianca Jagger; and Ms. Jessica Neuwirth, President of Equality Now.
