First Trafficking and VAW Shelter in Laos
In March 2004, Give2Asia.org, founded by The Asia Foundation to promote philanthropy to Asia, announced the launch of the first comprehensive women’s shelter and counseling center for victims of violence and trafficking in Laos and provide operational funding for its initial year of operations.

ILO, Yunnan Province, China, Launched New Project Phase
The Chinese province of Yunnan, in co-operation with the International Labor Organization (ILO), has launched a new phase of a five-year project to combat trafficking of children and women in the Mekong Sub-Region of Asia in July 2003.
