Intensive Residential Counter-Human Trafficking Training Programmes - Europe, North America, Oceania, and Southeast Asia

Website: Click to Visit

In response to surging demand from counter-trafficking professionals around the world for formalised training, we now plan on offering a world first: a Professional Development Programme (PDP) in Counter-Human Trafficking.

This programme is designed for those working in the field and assumes a level of prior knowledge. To maximise networking opportunities and cross-fertilisation of ideas, participants will be drawn in equal parts from international public organisations, government departments, non-government organisations, private enterprise, media outlets, development assistance agencies, and the legal profession.  Given the professional development nature of the course, it is expected that participants will have the financial support of their employer.

We will host four courses during 2007, one each in Europe, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and North America. Final dates and locations/venues will depend on demand for each programme. Places are limited. To maintain the very favourable student-teacher ratio of 1:6, each programme is limited to thirty (30) participants.  Each programme will have five (5) world-leading counter-trafficking experts as instructing staff.

Notional scheduling is:

  • Europe: April 2007
  • Southeast Asia: June 2007
  • North America: September 2007
  • Oceania: December 2007

Each fully residential Professional Development Programme incorporates:  Intensive 7-day counter-human trafficking training programme, including full board in 4-star residential training facility.

Comprehensive training syllabus including:

  • Trafficking modus operandi, including international context and global patterns;
  • International Legal framework;
  • Human rights framework;
  • Victimology issues, including ‘victims as witnesses’;
  • Behavioural economics perspectives;
  • Public policy options;
  • Working on the demand side; and
  • National Plans of Action and strategies.
  • Networking opportunities and team-building exercises;
  • 5 senior international expert trainers (excellent teaching ratio 1:6);
  • University accreditation / certificate of attendance for successful completion.
